Nestlé Nigeria has invested over ₦1.8 billion in dairy development, aiming to improve the livelihoods of pastoralists in the Paikon Kore grazing reserve, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The project, started in 2021 and implemented through the Nestlé Livestock Development Project (NLDP),
*Daily Production*
NLDP has invested over N1.8 billion and currently aggregates an average of 6,000 litres of fresh milk per day from 1,600 dairy households.
*Targets production of 30,000 liters of milk daily by 2027*
*NLDP is structured around three pillars*
• Better milk,
• Better feed (fodder) and
• Resilient communities
The initiative has already led to increased milk production and improved household incomes for local dairy farmers.
Milk producers have experienced a nearly fourfold increase in household income, rising from ₦70,000 to ₦250,000 between 2021 and 2024.
The project has also established 83 dairy cooperatives, benefiting approximately 3,000 milk producers.
The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, noted that Nestlé's investment aligns with the national agenda for livestock development, and the government is committed to supporting such initiatives.
*Noteworthy*
PBAT's Regime is no longer business as usual where government would give money to MDAs to be embezzled.
The order of the day is: PBAT is partnering with private business institutions, Provide the necessary resources like infrastructure, finance etc.
The supported business institutions then support cooperatives with track record of good performances.
God bless Nigeria!
