You don’t want democracy taken from you. You’re refusing to practice it.
Right now the loudest claim is that “they’re turning Nigeria into a one-party state.” Meanwhile, you’re pushing for a one-man country: one “good man” elevated above the system, where every other option becomes illegitimate.
*In that world:*
1. *Everyone must back your candidate*
2. *Everyone must think like you*
3. *Everyone must align with one name*
And if they don’t, you attack what matters most: their reputation, business, family, peace. Then you call it democracy?
Let’s define it properly.
*Democracy is the freedom to choose, think, and decide — without fear, pressure, or punishment.*
So look at how you act online. Do you let people think? Choose? Disagree? Associate freely?
You say elections aren’t free and fair, but you don’t allow free and fair conversations.
You complain about thugs at polling units who intimidate, force votes, and silence people. Online, you run the same playbook in a different arena.
They use physical force. You use social destruction.
*Hear this: oppression isn’t only when power is used against you. It’s also when you use pressure against others*
The leaders you condemn aren’t separate from you. They’re you with power. Give you that same control, and you’d silence, cancel, and dominate — just in your direction.
And the “messiahs” you project have already held power. None of them turned Nigeria into heaven on earth.
This isn’t about one man saving the country. It’s about a people demanding a freedom they don’t fully understand.
If your version of democracy only works when you win, you don’t want democracy. You want control.
