Halal Economy - Making Money without Charging Interest on Funds

*Preambles*

Imagine borrowing money and the borrower must collect both the principal and interest regardless of the outcome of the business - profit or lost - that how conventional banks make money.

*Compare to:*

Borrowing money and the borrower shares with you, whatever the outcome of the business - profit or lost - Halal shares your profit if the business succeed and shares your lost if the business failed.

*Considering the risky business world, where would you source your funds?*

*Halal Economy Written by Iking Ferry - A Christian Man Perspective for Your Considerations*

After my last post about the Halal economy,

I saw everything.

Insults.

Mockery.

Religious attacks.

Even conspiracy theories.

Some said: “Islam has eaten his brain.”

Some said: “Government paid him.”

Some even said: “He wants to Islamize Nigeria.”

First, Let Me Correct Something

I did not wake up one morning and decide to write about Halal.

Somebody asked me a question.

And the topic falls under finance - my industry.

I don’t speak because something is trending.

I speak because I understand it.

There is a difference.

Many people don’t know this.

Yes, I studied Islamic finance.

But not because I am a Muslim.

I am a Christian.

Born into a Christian home.

Raised with Christian values.

So why did I study it?

Because finance is my calling.

And if you are serious about finance,

you don’t study one side of money.

You study all sides.

Now... Let me tell you something personal..

Years ago, I noticed something strange.

Some banks give loans…

Without collecting interest.

That confused me.

Because in conventional finance,

interest is the engine of lending.

So I asked myself: “How can a bank lend money and still survive without interest?

That curiosity took me deep.

And that was how I discovered Islamic finance.

Not politics.

Not religion.

Curiosity.

But....

Here's What Many Nigerians Don’t Understand

Halal economy is not new.

It did not start in Nigeria.

It did not start last year.

It has existed for centuries.

From Malaysia

To UAE

To Indonesia

To the UK

Even non-Muslim countries are tapping into it.

But in Nigeria, everything becomes religious war.

Why?

Because we react emotionally to what we don’t understand intellectually.

Let Me Say Something Honest

Even me, I don’t trust government blindly.

Let’s be real.

But maturity is this:

You don’t reject an idea

Just because you don’t trust the messenger.

Wisdom separates policy from politics.

But, Here's Something many of you don't Remember...

Nobody was born a Christian.

Nobody was born a Muslim.

You were born into a family.

Your religion was your first inheritance.

If you were born in a Christian home,

you became Christian by exposure.

And....

If you were born in a Muslim home,

you became Muslim by environment.

Same with traditional religions.

These are realities many people avoid discussing.

Not to attack faith

but to encourage understanding.

Because maturity begins where emotional bias ends.

I did not speak to defend Islam.

I did not speak to attack Christianity.

I spoke to explain economics.

Because not every Arabic word is a weapon.

Some are simply financial systems.

Halal in finance is not a sermon.

It is a structure.

Just like:

Capitalism

Socialism

Ethical investing

But Nigerians hear Arabic… and stop thinking.

Now.....

Let me address this directly.

Some people said: “Government paid you.”

Hmmmm....

Let me be honest.

Government cannot pay me to think.

And I say this with full confidence:

Even if any Government institution approaches me

to create financial awareness…

I will not collect one naira - Why?

Because the day you are paid to speak,

you lose the freedom to disagree.

And I value freedom more than funding.

And here's the...

Principle I Live By:

If money enters your voice,

truth begins to exit your mouth.

Many influencers today are not wicked.

They are sponsored.

That is why their opinions change

with their contracts.

But I made a decision long ago:

If I speak,

let it come from knowledge.

Not sponsorship.

Because I want the freedom to say:

This policy is good.

This one is nonsense.

Without fear.

Without permission.

Without editing myself.

That freedom is expensive.

But it is the only way credibility survives.

Let Me Say This to Intelligent Nigerians

We cannot build a serious nation

if every conversation becomes religion vs religion.

Not every economic model is an agenda.

Some are simply opportunities.

Mature societies analyze ideas.

Immature societies attack labels.

My Position Has Not Changed

I am still a Christian.

Strong in my faith.

But I will never close my eyes to knowledge

because it came from another culture.

Truth is not tribal.

Wisdom is not religious.

Knowledge is not denominational.

You don’t have to agree with me.

That is fine.

But before you attack what someone says,

ask yourself:

“Do I understand it?”

Because ignorance shouting loudly

does not become intelligence.

It only becomes noise.

I will continue to speak on finance.

On structure.

On truth.

Not to please anyone.

Not to offend anyone.

But to educate those who are ready to think.
