*Other Speculations about Why Kayode Egbetokun, the former Inspector-General of Police, was asked to resign by President Bola Tinubu for three main reasons:*

- *Opposition to State Policing*: Egbetokun disagreed with the creation of state-controlled police forces, arguing that Nigeria wasn't ready for the system and that governors could misuse it for personal gain, contradicting President Tinubu's stance on state policing.

- *Slow Compliance with Presidential Directive*: Egbetokun failed to effectively implement President Tinubu's order to withdraw police officers providing security to VIPs, transferring the responsibility to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

- *Harassment of Journalists*: Egbetokun was blacklisted by the International Press Institute Nigeria due to the harassment of 24 journalists under his leadership, with little corrective action taken, embarrassing the presidency.

Egbetokun officially cited "pressing family considerations" as the reason for his resignation, but sources within the presidency revealed that he was asked to step down during a meeting with President Tinubu.
