(14 August, 2024)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has donated N50 billion to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) from proceeds of crime¹.

This initiative, part of President Bola Tinubu's administration, aims to support the education of indigent students¹.

During a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters, NELFUND's Managing Director, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, expressed gratitude for the donation and emphasized the importance of transparency in managing the funds¹.

EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, highlighted that the lack of educational support is a major factor driving youth into financial crimes and praised the initiative as a policy against crime¹.

Olukoyede also stressed the need for NELFUND to provide regular reports on fund disbursement to ensure the money is not misappropriated¹.
