He is an army general who took so much risk in fighting insurgency in Nigeria.
He took the risk until he became Chief of Army Staff.
General Lagbaja would always advance with his troops.
He is a servant leader.
He commanded two GOCs: 1 & 82 divisions simultaneously.
He entered forests fighting the terrorist at fore-fronts, spending several days.
These acts of commitment to national service is part of the reasons why PBAT chose him as chief of Army staff.
Also whenever an equipment is needed at the warfronts, he quickly sent them before the paperwork is completed.
Another army general similar to him is General C. G. Musa who PBAT also selected for chief of Defence Staff.
The analysis above was why soldiers were jubilatting when both of them were appointed as Army Chief of staff and Chief of Defence staff respectively.

Conclusion
