Salary of a Senator Per Month - RMAFC

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) reports that each of the 109 senators in the upper chamber receives a monthly compensation, including salary and allowances, totaling ₦1,063,860.

Here is a breakdown of the allowances and their respective amounts:  


- Maintenance Allowance: ₦126,650.00  

- Personal Assistant: ₦42,216.66  

- Domestic Staff: ₦126,650.00  

- Entertainment: ₦50,660.00  

- Utilities: ₦50,660.00  

- Newspapers/Periodicals: ₦25,330.00  

- Wardrobe: ₦42,216.66  

- House Maintenance: ₦8,443.33  

- Constituency Allowance: ₦422,166.66  

In a statement issued on Tuesday, M. B. Shehu, the chair of the RMAFC, sought to clarify recent comments made by former Federal Senator Shehu Sani, 

“in view of the recent statement made by Shehu Sani, a former Senator of the Federal Republic who was reported to have disclosed to the public that each Senator collects monthly running cost of ₦13.5 M in addition to the monthly ₦750, 000.00 prescribed by the Commission”.
