1. Introduction: The Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) has started stakeholder engagements across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones to address food security challenges.
2. Workshop Details: A two-day workshop in Abuja included representatives from Niger and Nasarawa States, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to discuss collaboration and coordination.
3. Official Statement: Ms. Marion Moon, Technical Assistant to the President on Agriculture, emphasized the need for collaboration to tackle the ongoing food crisis.
4. Workshop Goals: The workshops aim to provide an overview of the PFSCU’s mandate and gather feedback on current agricultural development mechanisms.
5. Challenges Identified: A recurring issue is the disconnect and miscommunication between the three tiers of government, which needs addressing for sustainable food systems.
6. Insights and Solutions: Engaging directly with policy implementers helps understand specific challenges and develop effective solutions.
7. Future Plans: Insights from the workshops will be used to develop strategies for the President to enhance agricultural interactions and resolve systemic issues.
8. Continued Engagement: The PFSCU will continue the engagement series in the South-West and South-South geopolitical zones, with more sessions planned.
