Abia State Steps Up Security

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has bolstered the state's security by purchasing new security vans for the state's security agencies.

To further enhance security, the state also needs to consider plans to invest in drones, which will complement the efforts of security personnel.

Key Features of Proposed Drones

The proposed survey drones will have a range of 50 to 100km on a single charge, costing around $50,000 each.

They can stay airborne for up to 2 hours at a time. Abia State requires at least 20 of these drones to effectively enhance its security.

Concerns Over Vehicle Procurement

While the procurement of new security vans is a welcome development, concerns have been raised over the choice of Toyota vehicles instead of Innoson, a local brand.

This decision seems to contradict the government's advocacy for local patronage.

Need for Transparency and Accountability

To prevent the misuse of these security assets, it's essential to have a robust monitoring system in place.

Without proper oversight, these vehicles  may end up in the hands of unscrupulous individuals, who might convert them for personal use.

Conclusion

Kudos for Governor Alex Otti Initiative, more grease to his elbows.
