Consultation for The National Digital Economy & e-Governance Bill (NDEB)

Terms:

Digital Economy: conducting businesses online. i.e. buying and selling online from the comfort of your home using your devices through the Internet.

e-Governance: Accessing various government services from the comfort of your homes using your devices through internet. This eliminate need to go to any government offices.

According to Honorable Minister of Digital Economy and e-Governance - Dr. Bosun Tijani:

"NDEB has so far been taken to 21 states. Benue would be the next destination for the stakeholder engagement on Wednesday 4th December. Our work to build a vibrant digital economy requires the contribution of all relevant stakeholders, and we are resolved to ensure that this all encompassing Bill represents the aggregation of wide-ranging and informed contribution."

Noteworthy

Just like Tax Reforms was taken across Nigerian for consultation for more than a year before being recently presented at NASS, NDEB is another bill that is taking around for consultation before being tender before NASS.

Why e-Governance?

Most of the government's Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) are going online.

Each of the MDAs has separate websites and online services portals for their respective services.

Imagine if the government create one big website that accommodates all of the government services from A to Z.

So that if you want to access any government services, you just go to that central website and then choose services you want to access and then follow through the prompts till completion.

No more Separate websites for different government services whether NIMC, FIRS, CAC, Custom, Police, License etc all of them would be in one central website.

e-Governance is accessing all government services from one central website and from the comfort of your home- that's what honorable minister Dr. Bosun Tijani is working upon.

Benefits:

1. Every MDAs would face their core operation without getting involved in IT infrastructure.

2. Cut-off the corrupt government officials from having access to tamper with Frustrating the IT systems

3. You don't need to remember several websites URLs - just one central website that accommodates all government services.
