The speaker indicated that we should balanced the speed of the progressive South with conservative nature of the north - that's fair enough.
The Northern have gone through the PBAT's Tax Reforms and had seen that it is okay but their issues with PBAT is trust.
But my opinion in all these, is that: when we trust people with our votes we must trust their decisions.
PBAT believes the way out is reforms. Therefore, Let's support him and give him the benefits of the doubt.
Aims of the PBAT's Tax Reforms
The proposed tax reforms aim to expand Nigeria's tax base, improve compliance, and establish sustainable revenue streams for the nation's development.
Some key aspects of the bill include:
- Remove tax burden from the poor low income: The bill aims to exempt anybody that earn less than 800k per annum.
- Reduce tax for middle incomes: The bill aims to reduce tax for middle income earners
- Simplification of Tax Compliance: The bill aims to make tax compliance easier for individuals and businesses.
- Improved Tax Administration: The bill seeks to strengthen tax administration in Nigeria, reducing the risk of tax evasion.
- Increased Revenue Generation: The bill is expected to generate more revenue for the government, which can be used to fund public projects and services.
The Presidency has replied to critics of the bill, stating that it's a well-thought-out piece of legislation that will benefit Nigeria's economy in the long run.
Recommendations
Rather than opposing the reforms solely based on a lack of trust for Tinubu, it's essential to engage in constructive dialogue and consider the potential benefits of these reforms.
By doing so, we can work towards creating a more sustainable and equitable tax system that benefits all Nigerians.
Many Nigerians in the northern region are opposing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's (PBAT) tax reforms.
However, rather than basing their opposition on a lack of trust for Tinubu, it's essential to consider the potential benefits of these reforms.
God bless Nigeria!
